Martín: Hello! Your new album is out now, tell us about the begining of this project and the birth of “Boar Riders”.

Max: Well. We’ve been playing now for over 10 years, mixing up genres of all sorts. We waited for our mixture to become a complete package, fused with different but certain styles. We’ve been doing all sorts of genres at this point. But when we started the fusion between Metal, Rock n’ roll, and punk, we know we where ready to give birth to an entire album.

M: Why this title?

M: We’re all very enthusiastic movie-freaks, and the Title “Boar-riders” is a phenomenon stolen from the classic cult flick; Easy rider. Boar-riders are the souls whom ride big motorcycles, and release themselves from the grasp of society. This is very similar to being a musician, always touring the roads, not looking back. Never knowing what tomorrows destination will offer.

M: Are you satisfied with the results?

M: Uhh, don’t ever ask the band that! Hahaha! …but yes, I think we’re all quite pleased. We could’ve easily used a bit more time, dubbing, and putting more detail on the finish. But overall the result pleases us.

M: Your music is a mixture of Rock, Metal and Hardcore. How is the process to create that kind of music?

M: It’s quite easy for us; since we’re all very influenced buy the 3 genres we’re mixing. But we need to be aware of the amount of each different genre we put in a song. The need to be equally balanced, otherwise some songs will stand out as more metal then another, or more Rock then the song before.

M: Which themes inspire you to create a new song?

M: I think mostly energetic themes. When we hear a new song from some band, and it’s very energetic, we get inspired to capture the same energy, and turn it into one of our own songs.

M: Is Metal something positive or a complete madness?

M: Metal is very positive! I believe it to be nearly some kind of therapy. Most people who lock their emotions inside themselves, tend to get miss able, and depressed. If you don’t release your primal instincts, like for example by moshing at a concert, or banging your head to a hellish riff, you might loose the touch you where born with. The touch that let’s you go off and tell you boss to stick his low salary up his ass!

M: What are your influences in music?

M: Rock… and every aspect of it.

M: How was the experience of making a video?

M: Super fun. The director and film crew where very enthusiastic about the music. And it goes to show. They really wanted to bring out the best in us, and capture us the way, the music sounds. Energetic and furious. We wrote the storyboard together with the director, and he just had an entire bag filled with great ideas. So we sorted out which of the ideas was the most realistic for the money etc. And ended up with a pretty cool music video!

M: What can we expect about PILGRIMZ´s live on stage?

M: We ALWAYS try to include the audience in the bands performance, by moshing with them out in the crowd. And throwing us selves into the mob of people, giving them the microphone, and giving them a chance to sing in it, etc.

M: How do you see Metal scene in Europe today?

M: I think its way better at fusing genres and not following the book, then other countries. Especially the sound of the production is very different from the American-sound. They always tent to go with a standard sound. Maybe it’s because they’re thinking; why change what already works. And that’s a very understandable thought. But this eliminates the chance to explore new areas in sound!

M: Thank you very much for your time. Here you have space to write what you want as farewell.

M: I just wanna give a shout out to all the people who want something new and different in music. Most times we tend to look forward into the future for a revolution in music. But, I have recently discovered, that some revolutions have already taken place, but gone by unnoticed. Many great songs have been forgotten, because they where far to ahead of their times.
